Here, as promised, is Malcolm's collection of photographs which he sent me to illustrate his last article. The descriptions are the ones which he supplied. - Geraden
Attached are a few pictures as promised, with which you may do as you see fit. Apologies for the quality; I'm a crap photographer, I think the camera is probably crap (though it's a Pentax, but a cheap one), the famed Australian light is intense and provides massive contrast which I don't really know how to cope with and I'm scarcely familiar with picture editing software
![]() | "At home" refers to what I happily wear around the family, but so far have always changed out of before going out. Wife and kids quite used to it and there's no issue. When it's chilly all that scar tissue feels OK under this. There's some wool percentage in both tights and sweater but virtually no detectable scratchiness; wool fabrics are not as they were in the past. ![]() |
"Standard" refers to what I feel I can get away with anywhere as long as I'm in the mood for the odd look from passers by. Tights are thick opaques with possibly a small cotton percentage, I'm not sure now; they're quite old. ![]() | ![]() |
| "Town wear" refers to an outfit I've actually worn to town to do the family shopping. I was uneasy and edgy pretty much throughout the experience including when I met some friends unexpectedly. Nothing was said re the clothes, of course. Small victory I guess. Cotton zip cardigan and charcoal Kunert wool ribbed tights (beautifully soft and warm - a delight) which unfortunately don't seem to be available anymore. ![]() |
| "With skirt" features acrylic knitted skirt with zip up the front (I like zips) which I've had for donkey's years and is one of my favourite items of all time. Tights are brown Aristoc (I think) wool blend ribbed "slouch" tights, hugely long, would probably fit 6' 6" male (if he could find them, I got them in '07, they don't seem to be available online now). Not much wool, they have a more acrylic feel and a tendency to pill. On top, bright orange angora-blend sweater under cotton ribbed zip cardigan (actually a man's one). No one has seen this outfit but I absolutely love it and I don't think it looks feminine. I'm sure others would disagree. | ![]() |

Thank you for sending me these photographs. They are really not as bad as
you suggest! Your taste for woolly ribbed tights would not appeal to me,
but I have to admit that it does make for a masculine look.
Look nice picture also cool when you wear skirt with black tights - it give
you nice comfortable - I do wear skirt as well with tights, it feel so
gooooood :)
Wow, I think these are excellent photographs. This is a very cool and
attractive look for a guy, its masculine, but it's also fun and creative as
well. Its even cooler that you go out dressed like this, I am sure it will
encourage others, or even plant the idea in their head so that they may try
it themselves. I like to dress in a smilar way myself - I'm always in
opaques with shorts or ripped jeans, and so far have had pretty good
reactions from people where I live in London. Thanks for posting.
